Here you will find lots of astronomical links, as well as links to some fun sites and even some weird ones. This site will be updated from time to time, mainly when I get an idea of something to do, figure out how to do it, and get around to actually doing it.

If you are here because of you heard about the Hall of Fame section, feel free to check out the other sections of the site as well.

In case anyone is wondering, the handle "Demented Astronomer" is one that dates back to the old days of computer BBS's (remember those?) and was derived by combining my interests in the Dr. Demento radio program and amateur astronomy.

One thing that you might notice is that there isn't any fancy animation, Active X, or lots of pictures except for the logo graphic in the corner of each page, the outer space background, and the galleries in the Hall of Fame section on this site. There are several reasons for this. Without fancy bells and whistles, this site will load very fast, even on dial-up connections, and this saves bandwidth. Also, by keeping things on the site simple, it is largely platform and browser independent. And it should be remembered that not everyone on Earth is blessed with perfect vision. People with severe vision problems often use alternate display devices and a simple website is more friendly to those systems. Finally, there is increased reliability. After all, as the brilliant Montgomery "Scotty" Scott (original version) once observed "The more complicated the plumbing, the easier it is to stop up the drain." Besides, there are more than enough bells and whistles to go around on many of the external links.

What's New: 08/14/2018 - Added two science celebrities to the Museum of Miscellany section of the Hall of Fame including a Nobel laureate as well as the great Pranvera Hyseni.  Also added two TV shows to TV Section.

Important Note: There is really only one hard and fast rule in these parts - no hotlinking (linking directly to one of the other sections of this site as opposed to this, the main page). For some reason, the webhost does not like that kind of thing. However, since this site is not terribly large, that should not be too inconvenient a restriction.

Contact Information: In an effort to reduce unwanted E-mail, you won't find any E-mail link or button on this site. If I should find a way to put up some sort of contact system on the site which gets around the unwanted E-mail problem, I probably will, but that would be in the future.

Privacy Policy: I do not keep track of who visits this site. However, some of the websites on the external links do keep track of who visits them, and some of those use cookies (Silly webmasters, cookies are for people to eat).
